Oofda

Well I am getting pretty excited for my trip to Pittsburgh this weekend. I have never been any further east than Michigan...well and Florida but I don't think that counts.

Anyway, thanks to Meg I get to also fly on my very first private jet. Who knows, maybe the last one I ever get the chance to be in. But I think it will be really cool and hopefully I will find a way to take a bunch of pictures to share with you peeps :-)

Work? Umm, interesting I could say. The office abandoned the second floor about a year ago...and by abandoned I mean got up and walked downstairs...and never looked back. Well they are trying to sublease it now so me and a buddy of mine get to organize all of it. Kind of cool actually. We get to sit in some awesome chairs and stare out the window all day...with only the two of us up there. Also, we get to look through a lot of old plans. I opened up some plans for some mansions here in Denver. WOW! People have some money here. Not 1, but 3 maids bedrooms. Wow.

Someday

(probably not though)

Gumbo Gumbo Gumbo!!!

Well I just spent the better part of my Sunday making up some homemade chicken and sausage gumbo! Wow...wow wow wow. So good. It was actually a little more difficult to make than I thought. You have to make a deep chocolate colored roue....which is tough because not too long after it just becomes burnt flour in oil.

Anyway, yummm. Saturday I drove to Boulder and got to hang out with my baby sis at the Pearl Street Mall. Very cool walking mall with all sorts gathering around (but mostly hippies...it is Boulder.) Anyway, great time. I got a free novel from some new author that hasn't been released yet, and I got a killer burrito that my sister insisted on.

But all in all I am very satisfied with the weekend. And amazingly, for a change, I think I am ready for work tomorrow. Hopefully you all had really nice ones. Me? I'm headed to bed, with dreams of gumbo in my head. Night!

Have you noticed?

Hey guys. Have you noticed this new thing at the top of my blog where you can jump from one blog to the next? It is pretty neat. Well it is potentially neat anyway.

The one thing that I have found as I jump from blog to blog is that 95% of the ones I go to only have like 3 posts...ever! So here is what I don't understand. Why blog for 3 days? Why even bother?

I wish that you could click that button and it would just take you to good blogs. You could skip all the crap and go straight to something interesting, or something that some 13 year old didn't write.

Anyway, tomorrow new glasses! WOOHOO! I think someday if I get enough money I will just have like 10 pair of glasses that I can switch out whever I want, instead of waiting 2 years in between. But in any case, I am stoked to get a new set of specs! Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, and one of the things I have been playing with today. beat up either Bush or Kerry. Either way it will kill some work time!

What a miserable day...

Yeah I know yesterday I posted this bright happy thing about Mario (which I am still not ashamed of thank you very much!)

Anyway, I had the most miserable day at work since working at Albertsons in highschool and the people made me bag it in paper instead of plastic (heathens!) So today, since there was little for me to do, I got to go to the North Denver office (which we closed) and throw away literally thousands of binders of equipment stuff. It was fine for awhile, until I learned it wasn't on the first floor.

Crap, very tired. Then we get back to the main office and I have to hang this pseudo art thing with the company logo on it. It is supposed to symbolize mechanical and electrical engineering using metal and wire. Not sure if it does that, but I do know it can cut the hell out of your hand...as 3 of us learned. Got out pretty late too, and all for some stupid company piece o' crap that everyone thought was ugly in the first place.

Tomorrow I get to do it again (well hopefully not the art thing-a-magig anyway).

Someday I will get to do engineering again...and the world will rejoice.

(on a side note, sorry for the rant. not normally my style, but for God's sake I should never be in a position with this job where I could claim workman's comp!!!)

A dream realized...

Do you ever have one of those days where nothing can get you down? Where something miraculous happens to you and you can do nothing but grin? Today, I had one of those days. And if you can just hold on, it gets very nerdy.

Today, my friends, I finally beat Super Mario Sunshine. I know, I know, you are all asking yourselves why I didn't do it sooner? Why has it taken so long? Well I'll tell you the truth. For over a year and a half I did not touch the game because I got stuck on a level. But just this past Friday I turned it back on and beat it the first try. It took a few more days, but now it is done and the relief is immeasurable.

Think of it this way, when I go to a restaurant and get a $40 plate of something I finish it. I eat all of it because I don't want to blow all that money that I am going to spend anyway. Its not like I get a discount if I only eat 75% of it. Same with a game that I bought 2 years ago. I paid my $50, and after 2 long years that money has come full circle.

It brought tears to my nerdy little eyes!

Woohoo!

What a great weekend. I got to see a bunch of friends and do a bunch of cool stuff.

Friday I got to hang with my married friends. It was great! We ate a bunch of Boston Market and watched a flik and just laughed it up till very very late. those married kids, they sure know how to stay up.

Saturday I took my new car up to Laramie to hang with Meg and Keith. We toured the campus, mostl.y because I wanted to see PRexy's. It is really interesting now, there is no road around the campus, but there are these great walkways. I think when it is all said and done it will make the campus one of the best out here.

Then we went to this new cajun place in town. WOW! I had a big ole' bowl of gumbo, and it was awesome. We also ordered some gator for an appetizer. I hate to say it, but it totally tastes like chicken. A little on the clear side (hmm, not sure how else to put that) but chicken-y all the same. I guess I expected it to taste a little more like fish.

I watched a bunch of Olympics and just hung out with my friends. Felt like good ole times in college...well minus the gumbo.

The setup.

Hopefully I am heading out for a nice weekend up in Laramie. It will be nice to try out the new car on the highway (outside of Denver at least) and see how it does up the hills. It is very fun to have a brand new toy to play with...and this is the most expensive toy I have ever put my hands on.

Well it certainly has been an exciting week, what iwth the car and the visitors...and my fav the olympics. Work on the other hand has been a bit of a doldrum (is that like a real word???) Glad it will be over.

Wish I had more to leave you with this weekend, but I guess I'm cool like that. Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be catching you all up on my exploits come Sunday.

That's a lot o' rain.

When I was growing up in Wyoming my family would decide to get out of the state. Most of the time we drove down to Ft. Collins, and if we were really lucky, Denver.

I remember we would cross that state line either on 287 or on I-25, and I could always just swear that the second I saw that big welcome to Colorado sign everything started to get greener. To this day I think it is like that...and I have an inkling of why...

...because it rains so freaking much!!! Good Lord I have never ever ever seen so much rain in my life if you put it all together. i We got something like an inch in half an hour today, and it has never let up. Not one bit. Heck, I have had to watch the olympics all night tonight with half the screen covered up with flood warnings.

Oh, and by the way, the new car holds up in it really well. (Fine, I'll let the cat out of the bag, I bought my first all new car this weekend. It ain't the fanciest thing out there, but it beats the spark plug shooting dingy I've been driving! Oh, and it is the one shown...the LS Sport)

A nice surprise!

Megan and Keith popped in tonight to hang out with me. What a lucky guy I am this evening. If only all of my friends could just pop in from time to time. Hint Hint.

Anyway we went to Tony's Gourmet Market and got some great chicken, which we grilled, some incredible tomoto soup, and some really great deserts.

Then we watched the Olympics. Really starting to get irritated with the gymnastics teams which were supposed to win without really any kind of trying. Oh well, I guess there is always 2008.

Which reminds me. I miss Shannon Miller. She should get back on the team just for the heck of it.

Umm, okay, so they are leaving. Ummm, alright. Well I'm glad they stopped in anyway.

I love the Olympics...

...and I hate instant updates on the internet. I can't even get online to write my blog without finding out how the US gymnastics team did. Here they are looking they are going to win it all. I was prepared to stay up and watch it all the way through, then MSN has great big on the front page that they are settling for silver.

Shit!

What's even the point in watching the rest? Maybe during these olympics I should just not get on the internet at all. I also bring this up because I read about Phelps losing before I watched it, made the excitement buildup disappear.

That's it, I love the Olympics too much to find stuff out early, so I'll turn on the one news source for my homepage that can't report anything, no matter how hard they try.

A very good one.

My Mom came down this weekend and we ended up just eating a lot of stuff, but it was a great time. Friday we went to a sushi place that is really close to here. It was excellent, as always.

Saturday my sister was cool enough to come down and hang out with us. We drove around some and just hung out. She ended up leaving early so my Mom and I went out to dinner again. There are a million restaurants around here, but heck if I know where an Olive Garden is. So we went to Bennighan's...good enough.

Today was the great day though. We went to this fantastic restaurantin LoDo before we went and saw Chicago. The food was incredible, and the waiter was pretty nice. I believe it was called the Samba Room. I had this really special shrimp...and it still tasted like crappy shrimp. Oh well, the rest was awesome.

Chicago was really good as well. It was a lot different than I anticipated. There really were no sets, but all the songs were there and the orchestra (really a band in this case) was freaking great! Oh, but the firealarms kept going off in the first act. Very distracting, but ignorable I suppose. No mad rushes for the door or anything.

Other stuff happened, but not everything in one night for you. Have a good week kids. Last week for me blew so hopefully this will be a bit different.

Cuz I promised I would

With as tired as I am right now, I would like nothing more than to hit the sack, but a promise is a promise.

I think it is time that I talked about dating. Dating is not easy, in fact dating is just about the hardest thing I can think of doing next to walking a flight of stairs! You have to prep for them. You have to pick up the apartment just in the off-chance that you end up back at your place.

Then you have to do things like ask questions that you don't even really know about your very best friends. But see, this is all to be expected in the dating scene. There is a protocol to be followed, and frankly I think the protocol can bite me. I hate being fake for an evening...despise it. But I have to come across as this perfect man, or what I have been told is the perfect man.

As I see it we should all just get tossed in a room, and the first person to ask something like "What do you're parents do for a living?" has to leave. This goes on until at the end all the stupid stuff you are supposed to ask is gone and the only thing left to do is be friends.

Life would be so much easier if I didn't like girls...have a great weekend everyone. I get to see Chicago (YAY) and hopefully relax. Smile big yo!

A slow one at work...

...so I filled it with other things. I can't imagine what it must have been like to work 10 or 15 years ago when you ran out of things to do. What did you do? Certainly not look stuff up on the internet for no particular reason.

Tonight I watched the sushi battle of Iron Chef. My conclusion? Making sushi still looks really hard. Now you don't have to go and eat rawfish to eat sushi, but just making the stupid rice looks incredibly difficult...that is why I think I should try it. Not sure when, but certainly soon.

Anyway, it seems like I have a new friend in the blogging world, so check out Madiecat on my favorite blogs to the right there. Just starting on it, but I think it will end up well.

Yeah, so maybe I will try to say something interesting tomorrow. You never know!

The best weekend ever!

Well, maybe not. Really not a bad one either. Just a weekend I suppose. Friday I got to hook up with Ken and his fiancee' and went out to PF Changs (YUM!) That was nice, and it gave me a good reason to pick the place up.

Saturday I spent most of the day at a car dealership test-driving cars and letting the salesman think he had sold me something. I almost did buy a car, but I think it is just best to let my current one die on me somewhere random on the highway before I get too frantic! Oh well, these things happen.

Really not sure about the week this week. The past few weeks have just been frantic, but this one may be the exact opposite. Studying for my test (that I have to take by Friday) and just being coolkid Nick.

Hope ya'll had good ones.

Happy Blogiversary!!!

Yup, it was one year ago today that I jumped onto the blog scene. Most people don't last more than 2 or 3 months, but today my friends, the journey has gotten us to one year!

I've had some great posts (Dear Wendy's, Trips to Tahoe, The Pumpkins!) and some nnot so great ones (work sucks, work is hard, I am tired...). But its all good stuff to me. In fact, I know of only one person who has been reading since day 1. Well some people read day one and were turned off by it (me complaining about how html is hard) but eventually I got them to come back.

So I think this is cause for celebration! Ken and his fiance are coming to Denver tonight and we are gonna hit up PF Changs (even have a reservation). Tomorrow I am probably going car hunting...not a pleasant experience, but not awful either.

So anyway, have a great weekend and remember to drink a beer for the blog!!!

Here I sit.

So here I am at work, waiting for a whole slew of selections to come from the vendor guy. You see when someone was checking my work today they found a very serious error that had to be fixed. My fault??? Of course not. Well, a little for heading the advice of an upper level without questioning the logic.

So here I sit, waiting at my computer to work the whole night away. By the end of the night I won't even have to come in tomorrow or Friday, though I will. All I can hope is that someone noticed. The lady checking my stuff said she has been very impressed with my work, aside from the fact that it is mostly wrong and needs to be fixed.

Well, at least she likes my coloring. I may not post tomorrow night, for if I do indeed finish everything tonight and tomorrow morning, I think a 3-day sleep is on order.

Night.

Gonna be some weird dreams tonight!

Tonight I flipped back and forth between Iron Chef (always on at 9pm!) and a show on Discovery about the history of cannibalism. I got to the point that I was just getting confused on which I was watching. They really went into some detail about that human stuff...and you know Iron Chef...always some interesting ingredients.

Work is still a pretty rough, but my Mom surprised me with a ticket to Chicago here in a couple of weeks, so that helped a lot! I am seriously looking forward to that, and maybe I will get to eat at that Cuban restaurant she always talks about.

Anyway, sweet dreams of Thai mystery meat (blech!)

Long day.

Boy that was a long one. And I am still not done. I should have stayed past 9 but I just couldn't keep my eyes open and staring at that computer screen any longer. Probably try and get in around 6 tomorrow so I can have everything done in time for the person to review it. What is up with this work being work thing? Like they expect me to be on top of things and have responsibility for some dumb reason.

Still in the search for a new car, or a way out of a new car. Stupid money with its stupid green and its stupid paper. Yeah, it needed to be said.

More tomorrow...if I love you as much as you think I do.

Oh, and just because I do love you...Will Ferrell as George W.

It was...a weekend.

Wow, I think for one of the first times ever this summer I am not going to gush about my perfect weekend. First things, I ran into some car problems and it is quite possible I will be in need of a vehicle very soon. Sucky. Then the money woes kept coming. A huge electric bill (deposits suck) and a pretty expensive Friday night.

Speaking of Friday night, I am sorry that it turned out the way that it did. I had a good time, but it probably cost me too much in the end (and more than just in my wallet.) Encampment was ok. I had never been there without being put to labor :) We really didn't do much though, trying to recover from the previous evening. The moon was incredible though. Not only was it a blue moon, but it was a harvest moon...glowing orange in the sky. Very cool.

So this week is studying for my test and trying to figure out how I can pull all of this car/money stuff off for the next few months. Too bad Ramen isn't in my diet.
