Busy Man!

Wow, have I ever been working hard lately! Lots to get done, not much time to do it.

This past weekend Ken and I went to see the enw Star Wars movie. Wow! I mean, you didn't need the first or second movie at all because everything you ever wanted to know happened in the 3rd movie! Some serious chill moments (and some serious horrible dialogue. Oh well. It is Star Wars!)

Then we went and got some amazing steaks from Tony's on Saturday. It was pretty awesome. On Sunday I decided to be the engineer that I am and make a list with check boxes of all the things that I want to do this summer. All too often I get these ideas in my head for what I want to do, then I end up watching movies all day or sitting around doing nothing in the evenings because it is, well, easier.

So I made a list of nearly 40 things I wanted to do this summer at some point. I have already nailed several of them. A couple friends from work always want to go to one of the local bars and play trivia. I went once and had a great time and decided I needed to do that at least 3 times this summer. We went and it was a blast. We had a chance at first, then blew it on the last question and walked out in 8th place.

Last night I went with some other friends to a Colorado Rapids game. It was on my list because they play in Mile High and I love that stadium more than anything...even enough to watch soccer. It was a really good time though and I will give some props to those soccer guys. Damn! They are freaking athletic! When I played soccer I had a tendency to run away from the ball not into with my head!

So this weekend I head to Casper to see some family and friends. Should be a good time I think. I have to take a good buddy of mine to Laramie, so I guess I will be taking the old Laramie->Casper road...ugh. Should be fun though!

See ya next week peeps and have a good Holiday!!!

Here I sit

The day stasrts off well when you are told as soon as you walk in, "What the hell is that on your shirt?" Whoopsie, that would be breakfast. Good thing I wore a vest today, time to zip it up.

Last weekend ended up being pretty fun. We played some putt putt and got to go to Tony's, which I always like. My little sis became drinkin age so we went and got a few things to drink, then drank like one of them. However, the SNL this weekend with Will Ferrell as host was so freaking funny I think it will be in insta-classic.

I also had my last training seminar last night. So for all you ladies out there, Tuesday nights are free again!

I finally got as new computer at work as well. Went from a 1.4Ghz Windows 98 to a nice 3.6 Ghz XP professional. It is like a whole new job now! I can work on a drawing for more than 10 minutes at a time before it crashes! I now know the wonders of having not one, but 2 or more internet windows up at the same time!!! Happy days are here again.

Oh yeah!

A few things been goin on. Last weekend ended up being a great time. Friday Keith was cool and bought me dinner and let me drink a bottle of wine. We then watched a movie with one of his friends (Napoleon Dynamite!!!) and headed for home.

Saturday was a mini family reunion. I got to see my dad and his family as well as both of his parents. I was thinking about that and I am pretty sure there are about 3 or 4 times in my entire life that has happened. But I also got to see Grandpa Jerry and he is just one cool guy.

This week I had my review. This was so painful. They sat down and prety much told me everything is real good, I just have a few things I should be focusing on. Last time I asked them what I needed to do to get to E-3 level (there are 7 levels and I came in at an E-2). They told me to keep up the good work and I would get it. Well this time it became apparent I was not getting it, so I asked the question again and pretty much got the same answer. I was told that they did have a salary adjustment for me though and to go to her office to get it. She (one of my many bosses) looked at the first sheet and said "Hmmm, well nothing on this one." Great, no E-3 and no "salary adjustment."

After flipping a few pages back she says "That's interesting." drops the folder and shakes my hand.

"Congratulations, I guess you did get the promotion!"
"Uh? Really?"
"Yeah, I really should have looked at this before your review. Not very professional of me."
"Uh, yeah, well I have some work to get done."

I ran away before they could change their mind.

My momma is coming down this weekend and we are going to hang out with my sis on her big 21!

A Trifle Bizarre

This weekend, as planned, I am going up to Laramie. It be my birthday on Saturday and I didn't much feel like spending it online with my cyber friends.

I get a call yesterday from my Dad. We talk probably 4-5 times a year, but this one was funny. "Uh hiya Nick. I am graduating on Saturday and wondered if you might want to come." HA! I had no clue in the world that my Dad was getting a master's degree on Saturday in Laramie, and a ton of my family would be there.

Guess it was a good thing I was already going to go. Still though...crazy.

Have a good weekend everyone, talk to you all soon!

Big Burger Lunch

Keith blew into town yesterday to get a piece of paper signed by some old lady so he could go to Italy. Frankly I don't understand why this couldn't be done through the mail, or really why it needs to be done at all, but it did mean we got to go get some lunch. Haven't seen that boy in ages!

Diet Pepsi Lime is foul, so I bought a 12 pack of it to really prove it to myself. Normally when I buy a 12 pack it takes 3 days for it to all be gone. This I have had for a week and a half and I still have 4 left. Maybe I should buy more just so I can have some kind of soda when I really really want one, but not just because it is there.

To catch you up...

I got reminded by a loyal reader that I never filled everyone in on the trip to the south. Well here goes...

First off I had to ride in the car one on one with my boss...well one of many bosses. That is always very awkward because you want to talk about something, but you don't want to get too personal. Somehow I let her know that my grandparents winter in Texas and for some reason I was in Houston because of it. Hope I didn't cross the line :)

I will say this, when travelling with coworkers, get the tickets split up. You don't all need to sit together...and she did this.

We landed in Birmingham late and I ordered some food in my room. The next morning I got up and all I can say is wow! There were trees blossoming everywhere. We see a lot of purple around here, but down there it is bright white. Also the thing to note is that there are trees everywhere! I can start to understand why one might travel to Wyoming after living out east or down south their whole lives and be shocked that they can see for 50 miles.

We did the site visits which were...well boring. I did manage to talk the contractors into taking us out to eat in Mobile Alabama. They took us to a place called the "Original Oyster House" or some such thing. After my mom returned from Boston with her stories of raw oysters, I knew I had to try it. Basically they take oysters, put them on ice, then you dunk them in a sauce. ver very very good. Like really good! I also had probably the best fried fish I have ever had, well besides my grandpa's fried trout.

The next day we went to Jackson Mississippi. I slept in the car most of the way there. I'm still not sure if that is ok or not, but my eyes seemed to agree with me that it was. We went to a Louisiana type place there and had some good eats. Nothing to rave about though.

It was at this last site that a contractor completley busted me on a mistake I had made back in Denver. It applied to every place we had been to. I kinda told him I needed to make some calls and would get back to him. Ended up clearing it up, but it made the flight back to Denver rather stressful.

So anyway, that was it! It was a lot of fun and I am glad I got to go. Hopefully more trips like that will be on the way soon!!!
