What can I say?

It really ended up being a fantastic weekend. It started off great with my very first private jet ride across the country out to Pennsylvania. The jet was really neat. It had 6 big chairs that could rotate around and lean back into beds. Truly they were remarkable. The pilots also treat you so nice, like you are a dignitary no matter what cruddy clothes you have on. Heck, they even remembered my name 4 days later and welcomed me aboard.

The guy who was so kind to put us up on his jet was nothing short of fascinating. He has met so many people and seen so many things. He has had dinner with Putin's wife in Russia, done countless events with presidents, and met more celebrities than you can shake a stick at. And very very smart as well. I wish he would blog.

Pennsylvania was great as well. I expected a city type of environment, but it was a lot more like a farm...but not really. In Pennsylvania there are HUGE lawns, and they mow the whole thing. Seriously, like an acre of mowed grass, trimmed perfectly. The house was old and very comfortable, much like the company I shared it with. Everybody was very friendly and just a pleasure to be around.

The wedding was new too. It was a Catholic wedding, so there were some things I was unaccustomed to. For instance, apparently the bride and groom sit during the wedding, and they also go pray to Mary. Anyway, it was beautiful out all day long. The reception was in the really old, elegant building. It kind of reminded me of the Masonic temple in Casper. There was an open bar (woohoo!) and lots of food. Too much food in fact, but all of it was great. There were some touching speeches and a good time was had by all.

Some other things. The amish go FAST in those little buggies. At the Walmart in town they even have a place for the amish to tie up the horses. Oh, and in most of the windows are electric candles that are always on. They call them friendship candles, though no one seems to know why or how that tradition got started.

Pretty much it comes down to good family fun a lot of cookies a lot of beer (they are IRISH Catholic) and just a lot of good memories...including the jet.
